What are you up to this weekend? Freddie and I are hanging out with my twin sister, which is always the biggest treat. They’ve only met twice in real life, but we have a very active group text, so it feels like they’re already besties. Hope you have a good one, and here are a few links from around the web…

How I feel about this week’s election results. (via Kottke)

Raising kids in a one-bedroom apartment. “When I first moved to the city, I was like, of course I’m not going to stay here when I have kids…but then the baby comes, and you’re like, we’re just gonna see how it goes.” (NYTimes gift link)

How lovely would it be to give someone a matching hat, scarf, and gloves? That color is stunning.

A new potato just dropped. It tastes like roast chicken.

Our big, juicy round up of fall recommendations, including a pitch-perfect TV comedy and a movie about a family that you’ll never forget.

I spotted these adorable heels everywhere in Paris. Would love to wear this pair with jeans and a sweater.

I can’t stop thinking about author Min Jin Lee’s points about respect.

These sisters are such cute roommates. “Our parents have been placing bets on how long until Sabela and I get into a huge fight and break our lease, which has not happened yet,” Nadia said. “So, we’re proving them wrong.” (NYTimes gift link)

Do you have a rug in your kitchen? I’m tempted to get a stain-resistant one during this huge sale. How pretty are this and this?

“I got hit by a car because of my OCD.” (New Yorker gift link)

How to start a hard conversation, not a fight.

Hahahahaha.

Plus, two reader comments:

Says Rachel on how to keep hope alive and vote: “I’m a teacher, who teaches poor minority high schoolers in Georgia, and our halls were electric today! One student, whose mother is in ICE detention, was visibly happy for the first time in months, actually skipping down the hall. A 17-year-old, who recently said she didn’t see why it mattered to vote, came in today, and the first thing out of her mouth was ‘I’m going to vote next time when I’m old enough! It’s time to do grown folks’ stuff, and grown folks vote!’ Many of my coworkers were wearing blue and buzzing with excitement. Made me weepy beyond belief.”

Says Jules on happy post-election day: “My husband’s first words when Texas was called were, ‘Let’s have another baby!!!!!’”
