Summer Game Fest<\/a> may be over, but the flood of gaming news isn\u2019t. Nintendo just announced<\/a> that it\u2019ll be holding its next Direct showcase event on June 9th at 10AM ET. The stream, which you can find here<\/a>, will be followed by a Treehouse Live event, and it sounds like it\u2019ll be pretty lengthy. \u201cThe Nintendo Direct will be roughly 50 minutes and Nintendo Treehouse: Live will be 95 minutes,\u201d the company says.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

There\u2019s no word yet on exactly what to expect, but this is likely to be a major showcase for Nintendo, given how quiet the back half of the year is for the company\u2019s release calendar. There are a handful of major Switch 2 games coming up \u2014 Star Fox<\/em><\/a> (June 25th), Rhythm Heaven Groove<\/em><\/a> (July 2nd), and Splatoon Raiders<\/em><\/a> (July 23rd) \u2014 but nothing currently beyond that. Fire Emblem: Fortune\u2019s Weave<\/em> is also slated for 2026, but doesn\u2019t currently have a release date, while the next Pok\u00e9mon<\/em><\/a> isn\u2019t launching until next year.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The Direct also comes as Nintendo is following the rest of the gadget world and raising Switch 2 prices<\/a>, which means that it will need a particularly compelling holiday lineup for its now more expensive console. Whether that means a tentpole release like a new Legend of Zelda<\/em> or Super Mario<\/em>, or something altogether unexpected, is unclear right now. But we should find out tomorrow.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
