{"id":1687,"date":"2026-06-08T16:43:33","date_gmt":"2026-06-08T16:43:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/silvybrand.com\/?p=1687"},"modified":"2026-06-08T16:43:33","modified_gmt":"2026-06-08T16:43:33","slug":"apple-wwdc-protesters-deepfake-nude-apps-ultraviolet-heat-initiative","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/silvybrand.com\/?p=1687","title":{"rendered":"WWDC protesters want Apple to ban Elon Musk\u2019s apps"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1044qizi _18mzr4b1 _18mzr4b0 _19wv7tc1\">Apple\u2019s big developer conference is today, and protesters are using the occasion to call on the company to remove \u201cnudify apps\u201d from the App Store and pull \u201cknown\u201d child sexual abuse material from iCloud.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1044qizi _18mzr4b1 _18mzr4b0 _19wv7tc1\">Outside the visitor\u2019s center at Apple\u2019s Cupertino campus, protesters have put up a large sign saying: \u201cApple is powered by child sexual abuse\u201d and asking incoming CEO John Ternus \u201cWhat will you do?\u201d The protesters come from <a href=\"https:\/\/weareultraviolet.org\/apple-child-sex-abuse\/\">UltraViolet<\/a>, a women\u2019s advocacy group, and <a href=\"https:\/\/heatinitiative.org\/about\/\">Heat Initiative<\/a>, a group that aims to \u201chold tech companies accountable for enabling and profiting from child sexual abuse.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1044qizi _18mzr4b1 _18mzr4b0 _19wv7tc1\">Apple and Google came under <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/policy\/859902\/apple-google-run-by-cowards\">significant scrutiny<\/a> earlier this year for continuing to keep apps like xAI\u2019s Grok on their app stores even though users were able to make <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/ai-artificial-intelligence\/855832\/grok-undressing-children-csam-law-x-elon-musk\">nonconsensual sexualized deepfakes<\/a>. In pamphlets distributed at the protest, the organizations say that \u201cat least 47 nudify apps have been found on Apple\u2019s App Store\u201d and that \u201cApple has made an estimated $117 million minimum from nudify apps,\u201d including \u201can estimated $35+ million from Grok alone,\u201d citing data from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.techtransparencyproject.org\/articles\/nudify-apps-widely-available-in-apple-and-google-app-stores\">the Tech Transparency Project<\/a>.
