In an interview with <em>Mostly Human<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.macrumors.com\/2026\/06\/11\/apple-siri-ai-interview\/\">spotted by <em>MacRumors<\/em><\/a>, Craig Federighi said Apple\u2019s new Siri won\u2019t act all sycophantic like chatbots made by OpenAI, Google, and others.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1044qizi _18mzr4b1 _18mzr4b0 _19wv7tc1\">\u201cAs you may know, if you use many of the existing chatbots, they\u2019re really focused on engagement to a large degree,\u201d said Federighi who is responsible for software at Apple. \u201cAnd sycophancy, right? They kind of want to pull you in. They might encourage you to reveal things about yourself, and then use that as a basis to establish a connection.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1044qizi _18mzr4b1 _18mzr4b0 _19wv7tc1\">Apple purposely took a different approach with its AI chatbot. \u201cWe view it quite the opposite,\u201d said Federighi. \u201cI mean, the way that we have designed Siri, Siri really wants to say \u2018Listen, that\u2019s not what I\u2019m here for, right? I\u2019m here to help you. I can help you get things done. I can help you learn about the world.\u2019 But if you try to engage Siri as a romantic partner, Siri\u2019s not up for that.
