In <a href=\"https:\/\/support.google.com\/youtube\/thread\/445002770\">a blog post on Thursday<\/a>, YouTube says it\u2019s also replacing the \u201cthumbs-up\u201d button with a \u201cheart\u201d icon, and is introducing a new option that lets you watch Shorts at 2x speed.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1044qizi _18mzr4b1 _18mzr4b0 _19wv7tc1\">As noted by YouTube, you can speed up a video by holding down the edge of your screen and lifting your finger when you want it to return to normal speed. You can lock the speed at 2x by pressing the player and swiping down. Another change allows you to mute watching by tapping the video and selecting the \u201cmute\u201d button.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1044qizi _18mzr4b1 _18mzr4b0 _19wv7tc1\">These new additions make Shorts even more like TikTok, which has had the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/2022\/5\/31\/23148901\/tiktok-clear-mode-test-longer-videos-ui-user-interface\">similarly-named<\/a> \u201cclear mode\u201d for years \u2014 a feature that also removes captions, icons, and usernames from your screen. TikTok already offers a way to speed up videos as well, and lets users \u201clike\u201d a video by pressing a \u201cheart\u201d button.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1044qizi _18mzr4b1 _18mzr4b0 _19wv7tc1\">Along with these updates, YouTube is removing the \u201cdislike\u201d button.
