OpenAI CEO Sam Altman <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/sama\/status\/2075266471316615436?s=20\">called it<\/a> \u201cthe best model we have ever produced.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1044qizi _18mzr4b1 _18mzr4b0 _19wv7tc1\">To celebrate, OpenAI also unveiled a new AI agent on the same day: ChatGPT Work. It\u2019s billed as a combination of ChatGPT and Codex, allowing the everyday non-technical user to take advantage of Codex\u2019s capabilities for non-coding tasks, and it\u2019s powered by the GPT-5.6 model suite (Sol, Terra, and Luna). \u201cIt can gather context from the apps, files, and workflows you choose and create finished materials such as documents, spreadsheets, presentations, and web apps,\u201d OpenAI wrote in a <a href=\"https:\/\/openai.com\/index\/gpt-5-6\/\">blog post<\/a>, adding that a \u201cunified plugins directory\u201d allows ChatGPT to connect to tools like Slack, Gmail, Google Drive, calendars, and CRMs.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1044qizi _18mzr4b1 _18mzr4b0 _19wv7tc1\">Mac and Windows users worldwide, including free ChatGPT users, should have immediate access to ChatGPT Work and GPT-5.6 via the ChatGPT desktop app. On mobile and the web, Pro, Enterprise, and Edu users will first get access, while Plus and Business users will receive access \u201cover the next few days,\u201d OpenAI wrote, adding that the \u201crollout is starting globally and will continue gradually toward full availability over the next 24 hours.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1044qizi _18mzr4b1 _18mzr4b0 _19wv7tc1\">Companies like OpenAI and Anthropic, as well as tech giants like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/ai-artificial-intelligence\/934478\/if-google-cant-make-ai-agents-useful-maybe-no-one-can\">Google<\/a> (and even, recently, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/ai-artificial-intelligence\/946780\/apples-ai-promises-are-finally-almost-sort-of-here\">Apple<\/a>), have been vying to clear new ground in the race to make AI agents actually useful for the average person, especially in the wake of the viral open-source AI agent <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/ai-artificial-intelligence\/890517\/openclaw-clawcon-meetup-nyc-open-source-ai\">OpenClaw<\/a>.
