(She had formerly been the company\u2019s CEO of applications). Around the same time, COO Brad Lightcap also stepped down from his role to focus on \u201cspecial projects,\u201d and OpenAI CMO Kate Rouch also stepped down in order to focus on her health. Rouch planned to return to a \u201cmore narrowly scoped role\u201d when her health allowed for it, Simo said at the time.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1044qizi _18mzr4b1 _18mzr4b0 _19wv7tc1\">Simo\u2019s announcement in April also kicked off months of announcements of C-suite changes. While Simo was out on medical leave, OpenAI president Greg Brockman was to take charge of product, including leading OpenAI\u2019s super app efforts, while CSO Jason Kwon, CFO Sarah Friar, and CRO Denise Dresser led the business side of things.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1044qizi _18mzr4b1 _18mzr4b0 _19wv7tc1\">But <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/ai-artificial-intelligence\/931544\/openai-keeps-shuffling-its-executives-in-bid-to-win-ai-agent-battle\">about a month later<\/a>, in mid-May, things changed again, with a company reorganization: Brockman officially took charge of OpenAI\u2019s product strategy and \u201cscaling,\u201d leading four different pillars: core product and platform; critical enterprise industries; consumer (i.e., health, commerce, and personal finance); and core infrastructure, ads, data science, and growth. In a memo viewed by <em>The Verge<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/ai-artificial-intelligence\/931544\/openai-keeps-shuffling-its-executives-in-bid-to-win-ai-agent-battle\">in May<\/a>, Brockman wrote that the reorganization would help the company prioritize its AI agent goals by combining its products to \u201cinvest in a single agentic platform and to merge ChatGPT and Codex into one unified agentic experience for all.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1044qizi _18mzr4b1 _18mzr4b0 _19wv7tc1\">\u201cThree months ago, I had to go on medical leave after a severe exacerbation of a chronic illness I\u2019ve lived with for seven years,\u201d Simo wrote <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/fidjissimo\/status\/2075353170927304861\">on X<\/a>. \u201cDuring that time, it became clear that the road to recovery would be much longer and more complex than I had anticipated\u2014and that I needed to focus on it fully \u2026 It has been a jarring experience to spend my days helping build the future while simultaneously navigating a disabling disease that still has no cure.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1044qizi _18mzr4b1 _18mzr4b0 _19wv7tc1\">OpenAI CEO Sam Altman wrote <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/sama\/status\/2075354679031067058?s=20\">on X<\/a> that he was \u201creally sad about this\u201d and grateful to Simo.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><br \/>\n<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/ai-artificial-intelligence\/963738\/openai-fidji-simo-steps-down-ceo-advisor\">Source link <\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>OpenAI\u2019s Fidji Simo is departing her full-time role as the company\u2019s AGI chief and is transitioning to being a \u201cpart-time advisor,\u201d she said on X.
