During an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/videos\/2026-07-15\/ny-gov-on-using-ai-to-clean-up-the-state-s-legal-code-video\">interview with <em>Bloomberg<\/em>\u2019s <em>Odd Lots<\/em><\/a> podcast, Hochul said that her team is using \u201cAI to analyze every single rule, regulation, [and] policy\u201d to check for outdated legislation.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1044qizi _18mzr4b1 _18mzr4b0 _19wv7tc1\">Some of the antiquated laws mentioned by Hochul in the interview include a $25 fee required to take a dog hunting, or a stipulation that pregnant people need a permit to work after midnight. Hochul added that it \u201cprobably would have taken five years at the staff level\u201d to review all of the laws in the state, but with AI, her team \u201cdid it in a couple of months.\u201d This will allow Hochul and state agencies \u201cto get rid of\u201d these outdated regulations, she said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1044qizi _18mzr4b1 _18mzr4b0 _19wv7tc1\">Earlier this week, New York <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/policy\/965110\/new-york-ai-data-center-moratorium\">became the first state to put a pause<\/a> on new hyperscale data centers for up to a year.
