{"id":406,"date":"2026-05-19T14:09:21","date_gmt":"2026-05-19T14:09:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/silvybrand.com\/?p=406"},"modified":"2026-05-19T14:09:21","modified_gmt":"2026-05-19T14:09:21","slug":"mark-zuckerberg-priscilla-chan-lifeguard-beach-water-person","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/silvybrand.com\/?p=406","title":{"rendered":"The Zuckerbergs Are Hiring a Lifeguard but Calling It a &#8216;Beach Water Person&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p><span class=\"lead-in-text-callout\">Meta CEO Mark<\/span> Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan are hiring a seasonal, on-call \u201cBeach Water Person\u201d based in Kauai, Hawaii, where the family owns a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wired.com\/story\/mark-zuckerberg-inside-hawaii-compound\/\" class=\"text link\">sprawling<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wired.com\/story\/mark-zuckerberg-secretive-hawaii-compound-burial-ground\/\" class=\"text link\">compound<\/a>, according to a new job listing on Greenhouse associated with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wired.com\/story\/mark-zuckerberg-school-palo-alto-shut-down\/\" class=\"text link\">West 10<\/a>, the Zuckerberg family office.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paywall\">This is an interesting choice for a job title, because according to the job description, the primary duties of this \u201cBeach Water Person\u201d include serving as a \u201cBeach Lifeguard,\u201d and \u201cPool Lifeguard.\u201d In other words, being a lifeguard.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paywall\">The job listing names a few additional duties related to water activities, such as instructing \u201cstand-up paddleboarding (SUP), canoe paddling, snorkeling, and other ocean-based activities.\u201d These, however, come after the water safety duties in the job description.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paywall\">This position easily could have been called \u201cPool\/Beach Lifeguard,\u201d or simply \u201cLifeguard.\u201d For the sake of comprehensiveness, \u201cPool\/Beach Lifeguard and Boat Deckhand\u201d would have also worked.
