As the name implies, <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.google\/innovation-and-ai\/technology\/safety-security\/selfie-video-sign-in\">selfie video<\/a> lets you capture a short video of your face on a mobile device or PC, which is then compared to an earlier video that Google keeps on file to confirm you\u2019re the account owner.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1044qizi _18mzr4b1 _18mzr4b0 _19wv7tc1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/support.google.com\/accounts\/answer\/16675622\">Setting up the selfie video feature<\/a> simply requires you to look at your device\u2019s camera and follow a series of onscreen prompts that guide you through simple head movements to ensure multiple angles of your face are captured. It\u2019s similar to the setup procedures for security features like Apple\u2019s Face ID, but without the need for added infrared light.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1044qizi _18mzr4b1 _18mzr4b0 _19wv7tc1\">Google says the reference video is \u201crecorded and securely stored\u201d in the cloud using encryption, making it accessible to more than just the device where it was created. You can delete it at any time through your account, and while by default the saved selfie video is only used to help you sign in, Google says you can also \u201copt to share it for additional purposes.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1044qizi _18mzr4b1 _18mzr4b0 _19wv7tc1\">Logging in to your account has you capturing another short video of your face performing simple movements to prove it\u2019s being recorded live and so it can be accurately compared to the stored reference video.
