Until now, voice mode has only been available on Claude Haiku<\/a>, Anthropic\u2019s faster but less powerful model. Now the company is making its Opus<\/a> and Sonnet<\/a> models available in voice mode<\/a>, and extending its reach into apps like Gmail, Slack, and Canva.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

When Anthropic launched voice mode<\/a> last year, it was primarily focused on delivering answers to quick questions with minimal delay. But in a blog post, the company said people immediately started using voice mode for far more than casual queries. They were using it to work \u201cthrough real business problems,\u201d which Haiku was not really designed for. That model \u201ckept conversations quick, but not always deep.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Sonnet and Opus are deeper models that the company says are \u201cdesigned for hard problem-solving.\u201d They can deliver more complex responses and analysis, and then take action on your behalf. For instance, turn a conversation you have with it into a one-page pitch, or shift around your calendar appointments if your train is running late.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Users can shift back and forth between text and voice mode mid-conversation, as well as change models. So if a quick chat with Haiku sparks an idea, you can explore it further by seamlessly switching to Opus. Anthropic is also expanding voice mode<\/a> to several new languages. Until now, languages other than English were only available in beta, but now voice mode is available in French, German, Spanish, Hindi, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, and Portuguese.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
