The price hikes will go into effect starting with products shipped after September 1st.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1044qizi _18mzr4b1 _18mzr4b0 _19wv7tc1\">Qualcomm claims it has \u201cexhausted its ability to absorb higher costs from suppliers,\u201d as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/news\/839353\/pc-ram-shortage-pricing-spike-news\">ongoing component shortages<\/a> continue to drive up prices. The company also said it attempted to source components from alternate suppliers prior to announcing the price hikes.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1044qizi _18mzr4b1 _18mzr4b0 _19wv7tc1\">As <em>Bloomberg<\/em> notes, Qualcomm\u2019s price increases will likely have a ripple effect, particularly for smartphones. Qualcomm\u2019s chips power everything from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/tech\/968663\/samsung-galaxy-z-fold-8-wide-hands-on\">Samsung\u2019s new foldables<\/a> to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/gadgets\/950229\/qualcomm-snapdragon-reality-elite-xr-smart-glasses-wearables\">upcoming smartglasses<\/a>. Earlier this year, Qualcomm even promised one of its new chip platforms would <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/tech\/938665\/qualcomm-promises-300-windows-laptops-with-new-snapdragon-c\">deliver $300 Windows PCs<\/a>.
