Discovery has filed suit against Amazon, accusing it of <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2026\/tv\/news\/warner-bros-discovery-sues-amazon-employee-poaching-pia-barlow-1236820566\/\">illegally poaching employees<\/a>, including Pia Barlow, former senior VP for originals marketing. In the complaint, Warner says that \u201cAmazon has chosen to ride on the coattails of other well-established Hollywood mainstays,\u201d and that it engaged in a \u201clawless employee shopping spree.\u201d <em><a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2026\/07\/amazon-poaching-lawsuit-warner-bros-discovery-pia-barlow-1237002763\/\">Deadline<\/a><\/em> reports that Francesca Orsi, HBO\u2019s head of drama series and films, is believed to be one of the other Amazon targets.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1044qizi _18mzr4b1 _18mzr4b0 _19wv7tc1\">Barlow is set to begin a new position as Amazon\u2019s head of original series marketing on August 3rd. According to Warner\u2019s suit, Barlow was under contract until October 31st, 2027. It accuses Amazon of knowingly \u201cinducing\u201d Barlow to breach her agreement by offering her a higher pay package and legal support should Warner seek legal action for breach of contract. It also alleges that these poaching efforts are ongoing.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1044qizi _18mzr4b1 _18mzr4b0 _19wv7tc1\">Term employment agreements are common in the entertainment industry, but less so in others. This has led to friction with tech companies attempting to break into the industry.
