Jamie Favazza, a spokesperson for TikTok US, tells <em>The Verge<\/em> that the platform notified law enforcement about the situation and banned Hilton\u2019s account for violating its community guidelines.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1044qizi _18mzr4b1 _18mzr4b0 _19wv7tc1\">Hilton, or Mario Armando Lavandeira Jr., is known for the celebrity gossip blog he started in 2004, where he often posted photos of stars featuring his own often obscene or cruel drawings layered on top.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1044qizi _18mzr4b1 _18mzr4b0 _19wv7tc1\">Though some users claimed Perez\u2019s livestream aired for more than 30 minutes, Favazza disputes this, saying it lasted around 15 minutes. Favazza adds that TikTok\u2019s automated content moderation team flagged the video \u201cwithin minutes\u201d and routed it to US moderation teams. TikTok also took down the subsequent livestreams started by Hilton within 90 seconds. Screenshots and clips from the livestream are still floating around on some platforms like X.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1044qizi _18mzr4b1 _18mzr4b0 _19wv7tc1\">The livestream aired on Tuesday night, with the Miami-Dade Sheriff\u2019s Office responding to Hilton\u2019s home after saying they received \u201cmultiple calls regarding an individual who was livestreaming acts of self-harm on social media,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2026\/08\/05\/entertainment\/perez-hilton-livestream-self-harm-hnk\">according to CNN<\/a>. The authorities transported Hilton to a local hospital.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1044qizi _18mzr4b1 _18mzr4b0 _19wv7tc1\">The slow response to Hilton\u2019s livestream has raised concerns about moderation on TikTok, which <a href=\"https:\/\/digiday.com\/media\/tiktok-moderation-has-pushed-some-news-creators-to-the-limit\/\">some creators have found to be unevenly applied<\/a>.
