As <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theverge.com\/social\/639811\/view-counts-tiktok-instagram-x-youtube-lies#:~:text=Even%20YouTube%20is%20cagey%20about%20its%20calculations%3A%20it%E2%80%99s%20generally%20accepted%20wisdom%20that%20you%20have%20to%20watch%2030%20seconds%20of%20a%20standard%20YouTube%20video%20for%20it%20to%20count%20as%20a%20view%2C%20but%20if%20that%E2%80%99s%20official%20policy%20I%20sure%20can%E2%80%99t%20find%20it%20anywhere.\">my colleague David Pierce notes<\/a>, it\u2019s not entirely clear how YouTube counted views before this, but \u201cit\u2019s generally accepted wisdom that you have to watch 30 seconds of a standard YouTube video for it to count.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1044qizi _18mzr4b1 _18mzr4b0 _19wv7tc1\">The change won\u2019t impact creators\u2019 earnings or their eligibility for the YouTube Partner Program (YPP), according to the blog post.
