The feature, called First Draft, is rolling out to Instagram\u2019s iPhone app and provides a \u201cstarting point\u201d that you can build upon with other edits, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.threads.com\/@creators\/post\/Dcd8qfSEbEV\/introducing-first-draft-a-new-way-to-create-a-reel-within-the-instagram-app\/\">an announcement on Tuesday<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1044qizi _18mzr4b1 _18mzr4b0 _19wv7tc1\">An example shared by Instagram shows a user selecting multiple clips for a reel and then tapping the \u201cFirst Draft\u201d button. From there, Instagram analyzes the clips \u2014 each of which is more than a minute long \u2014 before trimming them down to eliminate pauses and showcase the most important parts. Instagram then combines the snippets into a reel that\u2019s ready to edit and share.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1044qizi _18mzr4b1 _18mzr4b0 _19wv7tc1\">It sounds similar to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/tech\/884285\/adobe-firefly-ai-video-editing-quick-cut\">Adobe\u2019s AI-powered Quick Cut feature<\/a>, which automatically combines clips based on a prompt. But unlike Adobe\u2019s feature, Instagram\u2019s First Draft tool doesn\u2019t use AI, according to Instagram spokesperson Nicole Rechtszaid.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1044qizi _18mzr4b1 _18mzr4b0 _19wv7tc1\">Instagram says First Draft works with \u201cmulti-clip montages, talking-head videos, and day-in-the-life content.\u201d You can find the feature by opening the camera app in Instagram, filming your video, and tapping the First Draft Button.
