The company claims the new model \u201cworks harder\u201d than Gemini 3.7 Flash by performing more reasoning steps on complex tasks and \u201ccalling tools iteratively.\u201d It has the same introductory pricing as 3.7 Flash, $0.75 per million input tokens and $3.75 per million output tokens, but could still end up costing users more. Google warns that \u201cthe model might use more tokens to maximize performance, especially at higher effort levels.\u201d Developers can keep using Gemini 3.7 Flash if they want to minimize token usage.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1044qizi _18mzr4b1 _18mzr4b0 _19wv7tc1\">Gemini 3.8 Flash\u2019s launch was followed by some early impressions online. <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/ArtificialAnlys\/status\/2095177422270607803?s=20\">Artificial Analysis<\/a> highlighted the model\u2019s pricing, saying Gemini 3.8 Flash is \u201cthe cheapest we\u2019ve measured at this level of intelligence. This is up ~40% from Gemini 3.7 Flash despite unchanged per-token pricing, driven by a 30% increase in output tokens per task and more turns on agentic evaluations.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1044qizi _18mzr4b1 _18mzr4b0 _19wv7tc1\">Aigora.ai CEO <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/johnennis\/status\/2095182837112508749?s=20\">John Ennis<\/a> compared Gemini 3.8 Flash to Anthropic\u2019s models, saying it offers \u201cOpus 5 coding quality but at a fraction of the cost and super fast,\u201d adding, \u201cThis is going to be so awesome for things like making remotion videos.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1044qizi _18mzr4b1 _18mzr4b0 _19wv7tc1\">Google says Gemini 3.8 Flash offers \u201csignificant improvements\u201d for software engineering and autonomous AI agents. It outperforms its predecessor and other frontier models on the DeepSWE v1.1 software engineering benchmark, including Anthropic\u2019s Fable 5, which <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/ai-artificial-intelligence\/987830\/anthropic-claude-fable-mythos-5-1\">got an upgrade<\/a> earlier this week that also promises stronger performance at a lower price, by cutting the price to use cached data.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1044qizi _18mzr4b1 _18mzr4b0 _19wv7tc1\">Google\u2019s new model also outperformed its competitors on the Vals Finance Agent V2 benchmark and Harvey\u2019s Legal Agent benchmark.
