I\u2019ve always enjoyed playing around with beauty trends \u2014 popsicle pouts<\/a>, double braids<\/a>, shell nails<\/a> \u2014 but this current one is throwing me for a loop\u2026<\/p>\n

Ghost lashes.<\/p>\n

Basically, you wear clear mascara<\/a> or skip it altogether. Beauty editors seem fully on board: \u201cIt\u2019s a no-mascara summer,\u201d said New York Magazine<\/a>. \u201cThe latest in lashes is going ghost,\u201d wrote Elle<\/a>. \u201cBarely there lashes \u2018ghost lashes\u2019 aren\u2019t going anywhere this fall,\u201d agreed Glamour<\/a>. But I\u2019ve worn mascara almost every day since I was 15 \u2014 that\u2019s a lot of days! \u2014\u00a0and when I try to skip it, I feel weirdly naked.<\/p>\n

When I consulted my fashion friend Jessie<\/a>, she made me laugh: \u201cI\u2019ve never really worn mascara because every time I put it on, I end up bursting into tears that day,\u201d she said. \u201cIt\u2019s such bad luck.\u201d<\/p>\n

The key to minimal makeup, I suppose, is to make sure your skin feels silky and hydrated. For what it\u2019s worth, I love this plumping serum<\/a> and drugstore face wash<\/a>, which my dermatologist recommended (the gentle cleanser doesn\u2019t strip your skin). And I\u2019d love to hear your recs!<\/p>\n
