In an internal message by the outlet, Mullenweg claims Automattic chief financial officer Mark Davies \u201cconspired\u201d with board members to place him on leave.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1044qizi _18mzr4b1 _18mzr4b0 _19wv7tc1\">\u201cThey voted to put me on a paid leave of absence. I voted against that,\u201d Mullenweg wrote, referring to Davies, along with Automattic board members Ann Dunwoody, Toni Schneider, and Sue Decker, <em>404 Media <\/em>reports.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1044qizi _18mzr4b1 _18mzr4b0 _19wv7tc1\">Automattic spokesperson Megan Fox confirmed the company\u2019s decision in an emailed statement to <em>The Verge<\/em>. \u201cMatt Mullenweg is currently on leave from Automattic,\u201d Fox writes. \u201cMark Davies, Automattic\u2019s CFO, will lead the company as interim CEO. The Board has full confidence in Mark\u2019s leadership and in the team\u2019s ability to execute against the company\u2019s priorities.\u201d Mullenweg will remain on Automattic\u2019s board, <em>404 Media <\/em>reports.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1044qizi _18mzr4b1 _18mzr4b0 _19wv7tc1\">\u201cAutomattic\u2019s board has decided to ask Matt to step away from his CEO role and take a leave of absence,\u201d Schneider said on the company\u2019s internal message board, according to <em>404 Media<\/em>. \u201cWe have asked Mark Davies to assume the interim CEO role while Matt is out.
