Earlier on Friday, if you searched for the term \u201cdisregard,\u201d the AI Overview section would include a response like what you\u2019d see from a more traditional AI chatbot instead of the typical AI summary, as <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/ariadotwav\/status\/2057738319316816097?s=46\">spotted on X<\/a>. As you can see in the image at the top of this story, I got an AI Overview response that said, \u201cGot it. If you need anything else or have a new question later, just let me know!\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1ymtmqpi _17nnmdy1 _17nnmdy0 _1xwtict1\">As of Friday afternoon, however, Google isn\u2019t showing an AI Overview for the term \u201cdisregard\u201d at all \u2014 instead, it shows a list of news stories about the issue first. Google hasn\u2019t replied to our requests for comment.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1ymtmqpi _17nnmdy1 _17nnmdy0 _1xwtict1\">AI Overviews haven\u2019t just been tripping up over the word \u201cdisregard.\u201d When searching for \u201cignore,\u201d Google\u2019s AI Overview section showed the following message to a <em>Verge<\/em> colleague:<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<blockquote class=\"duet--article--blockquote ewrhy30 _1xwtict9\">\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup ewrhy38 _1xwtict1\">Message received! I\u2019m here and ready to help. What would you like to focus on today? Just let me know if there\u2019s a specific topic, task, or question you\u2019d like to explore.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1ymtmqpi _17nnmdy1 _17nnmdy0 _1xwtict1\">When they searched \u201cskip,\u201d the AI Overview section said:<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<blockquote class=\"duet--article--blockquote ewrhy30 _1xwtict9\">\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup ewrhy38 _1xwtict1\">It looks like your message was just a test or a typo! Feel free to ask a question, share a prompt, or let me know how I can help you with your tasks today. I\u2019m ready whenever you are!<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1ymtmqpi _17nnmdy1 _17nnmdy0 _1xwtict1\">As of Friday afternoon, Google is still showing me AI Overviews with broken responses when I search for \u201cignore\u201d and \u201cskip.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1ymtmqpi _17nnmdy1 _17nnmdy0 _1xwtict1\">As funny as this all is, it\u2019s almost certainly just some kind of bug \u2014 I expect Google will fix it soon enough.
