My friend Mo<\/a> had a problem. \u201cMy four kids have very close sleeping quarters,\u201d she laughed. \u201cAnd they kept waking each other up with their morning alarms. Everyone was going bananas.\u201d<\/p>\n Her kids share three bedrooms off a small landing. One room doesn\u2019t have a door, and two kids sleep in a bunk bed. \u201cWe would wake up so much<\/em>,\u201d lamented Indy, age 11, \u201cLike, six times between 6 a.m. and 7 a.m. Someone would hit snooze and then get in the shower; and on weekends we\u2019d forget to turn off our alarms, so they\u2019d all start beeping.\u201d<\/p>\n The family brainstormed different solutions and finally figured out a cool one: a bed shaker<\/a>! Have you heard of them? When they described them this weekend, I was fascinated. \u201cYou put a disk under your pillow or mattress,\u201d said Mo. \u201cWhen it vibrates, you wake up, but no one else does.\u201d<\/p>\n When I asked her two younger kids how it compared to a regular alarm clock, they answered immediately. \u201cThe vibration isn\u2019t as annoying as loud beeping,\u201d said Ike, 13. \u201cIt sort of eases you awake.\u201d Adds Indy: \u201cIt\u2019s a nice way to wake up because an alarm is a frantic noise and I genuinely have trauma from all the alarms!\u201d<\/p>\n As for my friend Mo\u2019s take? \u201cI just want everyone to get a good night of sleep.\u201d <\/p>\n How cool is that?
