Playground Games, which develops <em>Forza Horizon<\/em>, and Turn 10 Studios, creators of <em>Forza Motorsport<\/em>, are merging together to focus on <em>Forza Horizon<\/em> and <em>Fable<\/em>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1044qizi _18mzr4b1 _18mzr4b0 _19wv7tc1\">\u201cPlayground and Turn 10 will come together as one studio focused on the <em>Forza <\/em>and <em>Fable <\/em>franchises,\u201d explains Xbox chief content officer Matt Booty <a href=\"https:\/\/news.xbox.com\/en-us\/2026\/09\/22\/continuing-our-reset\/\">in a memo<\/a>. \u201cThese two studios have been technological, creative, and franchise partners for over a decade, and today\u2019s changes will formally move their work into one team.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1044qizi _18mzr4b1 _18mzr4b0 _19wv7tc1\">The closure of Turn 10 Studios leaves big unanswered questions around the future of <em>Forza Motorsport<\/em>, and whether Microsoft will ever return to the franchise or simply focus on <em>Forza Horizon<\/em> instead.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1044qizi _18mzr4b1 _18mzr4b0 _19wv7tc1\">More than 70 people at <em>Forza Motorsport<\/em> developer Turn 10 Studios were <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/news\/696676\/microsoft-forza-motorsport-turn-10-studios-layoffs-xbox-cuts\">laid off last year<\/a>, in a move that hit the vast majority of the studio. Over the past year, Turn 10 Studios has essentially been maintaining <em>Forza Motorsport<\/em>, and now those who remain will be moving over to Playground Games to work on <em>Forza Horizon<\/em> and <em>Fable<\/em>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1044qizi _18mzr4b1 _18mzr4b0 _19wv7tc1\">The Playground Games and Turn 10 Studios changes are part of a larger reorganization of Xbox today. Activision is taking on the <em>Halo <\/em>franchise, alongside <em>Sea of Thieves <\/em>developers Rare and World\u2019s Edge, the studio responsible for <em>Age of Empires<\/em>.
