Rabbit, the company behind the underwhelming R1 device<\/a>, is rolling out a standalone AI agent that you don\u2019t need its hardware to use, as reported earlier by Wired<\/em><\/a>. The startup says<\/a> its new OS3 \u201cagentic operating system\u201d runs in the cloud but operates locally across Windows, Mac, and Linux devices.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

According to Rabbit, you can add up to five devices to one account, along with your preferred AI models. OS3 will automatically determine the devices, files, apps, and AI models it needs to complete a task. You can also access OS3 through its dedicated desktop site<\/a>, a paired messaging app like Telegram or iMessage, as well as on Rabbit\u2019s R1 device.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Though Rabbit founder Jesse Lyu tells Wired<\/em> that the startup has stopped manufacturing R1 devices, it isn\u2019t giving up on AI hardware entirely. It\u2019s instead focusing on a new vibe-coding \u201ccyberdeck\u201d<\/a> that will run OS3 when it launches within \u201cmonths,\u201d Wired<\/em> reports.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Rabbit claims its OS3 system won\u2019t store, copy, use, or sell your data. It notes that it will still keep your chats and memories stemming from them on its servers. Other AI providers linked to OS3 will also handle your data under their own privacy rules.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
