According to Uthmeier, users are lulled into a false sense of security by the AI bot, as \u201cChatGPT\u2019s use of language, including first-person pronouns and output that mimics emotion, deceptively suggests to users that it is a trustworthy \u2018friend.\u2019\u201d All of this happens to increase engagement and contribute to OpenAI\u2019s training data, convincing users to rely on ChatGPT more even as its pursuit of engagement makes it potentially less trustworthy, claims Uthmeier.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1044qizi _18mzr4b1 _18mzr4b0 _19wv7tc1\">OpenAI did not immediately respond to a request for comment.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1044qizi _18mzr4b1 _18mzr4b0 _19wv7tc1\">Uthmeier <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/AGJamesUthmeier\/status\/2104565019597848938?s=20\">says<\/a> that OpenAI should \u201cStop calling it safe. Stop pretending it\u2019s human.
