John Ternus, Apple\u2019s new CEO, wants Apple to launch products more often than its usual splashy moments in the fall and the spring, according to a Bloomberg<\/em> report<\/a> detailing some of Ternus\u2019s initial plans for the company.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Apple regularly holds iPhone launch events in September and often announces products later in the year and in springtime, but \u201cTernus has indicated that Apple must introduce products more quickly and become more experimental to remain competitive in the artificial intelligence era,\u201d Bloomberg<\/em> says. The shift may not happen right away given Apple\u2019s \u201clong-established\u201d development practices. Apple is rumored to have a considerable number of products in the pipeline, including a new HomePod Mini, iPad Mini, and Apple TV 4K<\/a>, AirPods with cameras<\/a>, touchscreen MacBooks<\/a>, and a special 20th anniversary iPhone<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Ternus is also considering reducing layers between engineers and senior executives, and the hardware engineering team dismissed \u201ca number\u201d of engineering program managers in the past two weeks, Bloomberg<\/em> says. Those cuts follow recent layoffs on its Siri and Vision Pro teams<\/a> that Bloomberg<\/em> reported on in August<\/a>. Apple also apparently considered laying off 5,000 AppleCare customer service staffers, but \u201cultimately put those plans on hold.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
