When Guiducci confronted Altman about the incident, the publicist warned Guiducci about running out of time, saying she\u2019d like to \u201cmove on\u201d to another topic.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1044qizi _18mzr4b1 _18mzr4b0 _19wv7tc1\">The interruption came shortly after Guiducci asked Altman if he knew who Laura Reiley is, a journalist who <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2025\/08\/18\/opinion\/chat-gpt-mental-health-suicide.html\">wrote an essay for <em>The New York Times<\/em><\/a> about her daughter\u2019s conversations with ChatGPT before she took her own life. \u201cHer daughter committed suicide after speaking to ChatGPT. ChatGPT did not tell her to kill herself\u2014,\u201d Guiducci said just before the publicist interrupted him.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1044qizi _18mzr4b1 _18mzr4b0 _19wv7tc1\">\u201cMark, we have two minutes left. I want to be respectful, but I\u2019d like to move on and talk a little bit about the future and what\u2019s coming,\u201d the publicist said. Even after Guiducci explained that he\u2019s going to finish the question and then \u201cgo back to what we were talking about,\u201d the publicist pushed back. \u201cWe really actually have to walk out the door in one or two minutes,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1044qizi _18mzr4b1 _18mzr4b0 _19wv7tc1\">Despite the pushback, the interview continued with Guiducci asking Altman whether the company planned to use conversations with ChatGPT to shape policies surrounding its response to a user\u2019s mental health crisis. \u201cThese are some of the hardest questions that we face or that anybody developing this technology faces,\u201d Altman said. \u201cYou know, should we release people\u2019s private data and some of their hardest moments to researchers? I think probably not without their consent.
