When President Donald Trump announced his plans to rebrand artificial intelligence as \u201csuper intelligence<\/a>,\u201d you\u2019d be forgiven for being skeptical that it would catch on. While most of the broader population is sticking with AI, some of Silicon Valley\u2019s most powerful are falling in line and trying to give Trump the great AI rebrand<\/a> he so desires.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

That Elon Musk was quick to jump on board<\/a>, promising to rename SpaceXAI to SpaceXSI, isn\u2019t surprising. When, hours after Donald Trump declared that \u201cThe White House considers anyone that uses the term, \u2018Artificial Intelligence,\u2019 as opposed to the highly accepted new and more accurate term, \u2018Super Intelligence,\u2019 THE ENEMY!\u201d Marc Benioff announced that Salesforce would rename AIForce to SIForce<\/a>; it seemed like a quick capitulation, but not entirely out of character.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang attended the summit where the executive order requiring government agencies to use the term \u201csuper intelligence\u201d was announced. He\u2019s also aligned himself with Trump, saying he believes the danger posed by AI is overblown. So it was somewhat predictable that when Nvidia declared that it would \u201ccommit\u201d $1 billion to scientific advancement, that included \u201csuper intelligence research<\/a>.\u201d Of course, Huang has a lot to lose<\/a> if he gets on Trump\u2019s bad side.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

The latest to cave is Microsoft\u2019s Satya Nadella, who attended the same AI summit as Huang along with Mark Zuckerberg, Sundar Pichai, Jeff Bezos, Dario Amodei, and Musk. In a post calling for building an \u201cemergency brake<\/a>\u201d for AI yesterday, Nadella repeatedly referred to the technology as \u201csuper intelligence.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
