CD Projekt Red just announced <em>Songs of the Past<\/em>, the third expansion for <em>The Witcher 3<\/em>, which will be launching in 2027.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1ymtmqpi _17nnmdy1 _17nnmdy0 _1xwtict1\">Aside from the title, there aren\u2019t many details about the expansion just yet. It\u2019s being co-developed by CDPR and fellow Polish studio Fool\u2019s Theory. What\u2019s most notable about <em>Songs of the Past<\/em>, though, is the timing: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/2015\/5\/12\/8586515\/witcher-3-wild-hunt-review-ps4-xbox-one-game\"><em>The Witcher 3<\/em> first launched in 2015<\/a>, meaning the latest expansion is coming more than a decade after the game first premiered. The game\u2019s first two expansions \u2014 <em>Hearts of Stone<\/em> and <em>Blood and Wine<\/em> \u2014 both launched within a year of the base game. That said, things haven\u2019t been totally quiet, as <em>The Witcher 3<\/em> has seen some notable updates since then, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/2022\/12\/12\/23505545\/the-witcher-3-next-gen-update-ps5-xbox-pc-hands-on\">including a big next-gen version in 2022<\/a>, which improved the visuals and performance.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1ymtmqpi _17nnmdy1 _17nnmdy0 _1xwtict1\">This kind of long-term support is rare, but it does tend to happen for majorly successful games, much like how <em>Grand Theft Auto V<\/em> was ported across three generations of consoles. <em>The Witcher 3<\/em> has sold more than 60 million copies since launch, according to CDPR, making it one of the best-selling games of all time.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1ymtmqpi _17nnmdy1 _17nnmdy0 _1xwtict1\">When it does launch, <em>Songs of the Past<\/em> will be available on the PS5, Xbox, and PC (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.eurogamer.net\/the-witcher-3-minimum-pc-requirements-change\">which just got some updated system requirements<\/a>), and the studio says we\u2019ll hear more about the expansion in the summer.
