The boys are excited for trick-or-treating — Toby is now at the age where he passes out the candy — and I can’t wait to see all the funny and adorable costumes. Will you be dressing up? Hope you have a good one, and here are a few links from around the web…

The Pride & Prejudice trailer looks great. Hello, Olivia Colman!

Catbird, our go-to jewelry destination, is having a rare sale — how lovely are these birth flower charms and engraved key? (Here are all my holiday favorites, if you’d like to see.)

I stumbled onto the best dessert combo: Reese’s pumpkins with Walker’s shortbread. One bite of each, and repeat.

This gift guide made me laugh. “Your Barista Crush: Order a black cup of coffee. Give them a break from the espresso slog.” “Your Mom: Gossip.”

Start with chopped broccoli.

Collective nouns for librarians.

My dermatologist recommended retinol to help with wrinkles, firmness, etc. I’m zeroing in on this moisturizing balm — have you tried it?

If you were actually friends with ChatGPT.

Did you see that Monica Heisey is coming out with a new novel? I love the cover.

Oooh, pretty party dresses: maxi, mini, velvet.

Finally, don’t forget to vote in the midterms! And here are your voting rights. xoxo

Plus, three reader comments:

Says Michelle on what collective nouns describe your family: “My kids, husband and I are ‘a neurodivergence’ of Edwardses.”

Says Lindsay Joy on the kindness of strangers: “I suggest being TOTALLY RECKLESS with encouragement. See another parent? Find a way to say ‘I see you, bravo for being here, we’re all in this together.’ Especially when things seem…hairy.”

Says Mel on are you going to see Wicker: “Cheers to men unabashedly loving their partners. We were at a friend’s house this weekend discussing perimenopause, and the women all unleashed how they’re pissed at the patriarchy and general way of the world – in tandem, we also discussed the changes we feel in our brains and chemistry and how we look at life. Later that night, when we crawled into bed, my husband asked, ‘How can I love you better as you and your outlook on life changes? I don’t ever want to lose you.’ It melted my heart and made me thankful for all the good men out there.”
