“Your appointments lopsided, Nigeria is more than Lagos state” – Borno elder blasts Tinubu
“Professor Khalifa Dikwa, representing the Borno Elders Forum, voiced discontent over President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s appointments, emphasizing that the disproportionate focus on Lagos natives undermines the inclusivity needed for Nigeria’s progress.
Dikwa criticized Tinubu’s administration for instigating public dissatisfaction through the implementation of stringent policies, particularly condemning the recent 0.5 per cent cybersecurity levy on electronic transactions imposed by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
Expressing the Northern elite’s discontent with Tinubu’s policies, Dikwa highlighted the adverse impact on the Northern region, citing imbalances in key sectors such as ICT, finance, and infrastructure. He stressed the necessity for a more diverse array of appointees, representing not only Northern elites but also individuals from the South-South and South-East regions, underscoring that Nigeria’s diversity extends beyond the confines of Lagos State.
Furthermore, Dikwa alleged that external entities like the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank exert undue influence on Tinubu’s administration, perpetuating policies that perpetuate poverty and instability, ultimately undermining the nation’s welfare.”
