Your Cart Can Wait: Amazon Prime Day Is Almost Here

amazon prime day best deals

I’ve purchased some of my all-time favorite products from Amazon. My desk chair, the oversized mirror that sits in my bedroom, the emotional-support water bottle I take everywhere—heck, I even bought my coffee table on Amazon. I’m a sucker for a good deal and fast shipping, and you know Amazon does both of those things well. But if you have a cart full of Amazon finds you’ve been meaning to purchase, you might want to hold off on hitting “Proceed to checkout” for a little longer. Amazon Prime Day is right around the corner, and you could save a ton on items you’re already planning on buying.

Although Amazon Prime Day has historically taken place in July, this year’s sale is earlier than ever. One thing that hasn’t changed? Prime Day offers deals that rival even Black Friday and Cyber Monday-level savings, so it’s a prime opportunity to do some serious shopping. This summer’s sale promises to be as big as ever, but with a few twists that you’re going to want to know about before you start shopping.

Read on to learn everything you need to know to make the most of Amazon Prime Day, including when the sale starts and how to find the absolute best deals.

When is Amazon Prime Day?

This year’s Amazon Prime Day kicks off on Tuesday, June 23. In past years, the sale has lasted just 48 hours, which is barely enough time to decide what you want to buy IMO. Luckily for those of us who struggle with indecision, Amazon has extended Prime Day to last a full four days. The sale will officially go live starting at 12:01 a.m. Pacific Time (that’s 3:01 a.m. Eastern) on June 23 and run through Friday, June 26. So you have nearly a full work week to get your cart sorted and actually commit to your purchases.

What is on sale for Amazon Prime Day?

Throughout Amazon Prime Day, you’ll see sales across all categories, including clothing, furniture, home decor, beauty products, kitchen essentials, books, electronics, and more. So, no matter what you’re shopping for, you can snag some great deals as we head into summer. It’s the perfect time to hit “purchase” on those items that have been idling in your cart or stock up on some essentials while they’re on sale.

IMO, many of the best deals are found in the home category, where you can save a ton on big-ticket items like area rugs, office furniture, kitchen appliances, and splurge-worthy items like the Samsung Frame TV. Some items are bound to sell out well before the end of the sale, however, so it’s a good idea to shop early.

How to find the best deals during Amazon Prime Day

Step 1: Make sure your Prime membership is active. Amazon’s Prime Day sale is only available for Prime members, so you’ll want to sign up for a membership (or a free trial) ASAP. It costs $14.99 a month or $139 annually, but of course, you’ll get a ton of benefits like super-fast, free delivery in addition to access to the sale. If you like placing an order and having it arrive within a day or two, the membership fee is well worth it.

Once the sale goes live, the Prime Day page on Amazon’s website is an easy (if not slightly overwhelming) way to see what’s on sale. To narrow things down a bit, you can filter the deals by category to see only the type of items you’re looking for. I also recommend looking out for something called “Today’s Big Deals,” which are themed drops featuring some of the best deals. These will launch daily at midnight, 8 a.m., and 1 p.m. Pacific Time throughout the sale and are only available while supplies last. It’s worth keeping an eye on to snag some major savings.

Hot tip for scoring the best deals: Set up alerts so you’ll be notified about any sales on items you’ve got your eye on. Since new deals can pop up at any time during the sale—including “lightning deals” that are only good until they’re gone—take away some of the shopping stress by visiting the Prime Day event page in the Amazon Shopping app or using the Alexa for Shopping AI tool. You can set up alerts for any items on your wishlist, so if and when the price drops on your item, you’ll be the first to know. You can even ask Alexa for Shopping to purchase the item automatically when it reaches a certain price target. It’s an easy way to shop smarter, not harder.
