This year, Mercury will be in retrograde from June 29 to July 23. However, as with any retrograde period, there are “shadow” periods that exist before and after the official retrograde. This could involve home renovations, family discussions, or the need to pay more attention to your own emotional state. “Some may feel the urge to return to a place where they once felt at home, to revive family traditions, or to resolve long-standing issues,” says Tetiana Tsvil, an astrologer and spiritual advisor at Nebula.
Mercury retrograde does have its positives—it can be a great time to finish things you’ve already started. Think organizing, catching up on unfinished projects, reviewing old plans, or finally tackling things you’ve been meaning to get to. If you’re revisiting something you’ve done before, you may notice important details that slipped by the first time.
What signs will be most impacted by Mercury retrograde?
Cancer
Cancers are likely to feel this Mercury retrograde more than most since it’s happening in their sign. This period may bring old situations back around and create opportunities to revisit or redo things. “Most often, this will concern appearance, health, self-fulfillment, personal endeavors, image, and their own role in life,” Tsvil says. Unfinished projects, old ideas, or personal matters that need another look may resurface, giving you a chance to make improvements or tie up loose ends.
Capricorn
Capricorns are likely to see retrograde play out through their relationships and partnerships, since Mercury will symbolically pass through the seventh house. Expect old connections to resurface, ongoing discussions to return, and past agreements to come back up for review. Matters that seemed finished may need one more conversation, giving you a chance to work through details and strengthen the foundation of important partnerships.
Libra
For Libras, Mercury retrograde is likely to have the biggest impact on career, professional goals, and long-term plans.
