The other night, we were watching Curb Your Enthusiasm — one of the great comfort shows — and, in the episode, Larry’s local deli named a sandwich after him. Here’s the big moment:
Jeff: “I went by Leo’s Delicatessen. You know what’s up on the board? A brand new sandwich called the ‘Larry David.’”
Larry: “What? Get out of here.”
Jeff: “Swear to God. Swear to God.”
Larry: “Leo named a sandwich after me? You’re kidding!”
Jeff: “Yep yep yep.”
Larry: “I can’t believe it. I’m on the board?”
Jeff: “You’re on the board.”

The only catch? Larry hates his sandwich. The ingredients are whitefish, sable, cream cheese, capers, and onions, and he’s “more of a pastrami, corned beef kind of guy…not really a big fish guy.”
So! My question today is, if you had a sandwich named after you, and it was a good one, what would be on it? Mine would be a grilled cheese with Dijon mustard; or maybe a classic bodega egg-and-cheese. During a hot summer of quick lunches, I’d love to hear yours. xo
Here are a few more, if you’d like inspiration:
* Swiss melt with tomatoes
* Chickpea sandwich
* Fried fish sandwiches
* Shrimp rolls
* Giant egg patty sandwich
* 10-minute salmon sandwich
* Kitchen sink sandwich
* Grilled cheese salad
