“Wike carrying out APC’s agenda in Rivers” – Former Senate president alleges

Last Updated on May 9, 2024 by Silvy

Former Senate President Senator Adolphus Wabara has leveled accusations against FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, asserting that Wike is exacerbating tensions in Rivers State. Wabara, who currently chairs the Board of Trustees for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), made these remarks in response to recent actions by pro-Wike legislators and the call by the Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to impeach Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

Expressing concern over the brewing conflict between Fubara and the lawmakers in the Rivers Assembly, Wabara urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to intervene and prevent Wike from instigating a needless political crisis in Rivers State. He warned of the potentially dire consequences of instability in Rivers State, emphasizing its significant economic contribution to Nigeria.

Wabara implored President Tinubu to counsel Wike towards fostering peace and allowing Fubara’s successor to fulfill his constitutional duties without undue interference. He stressed the importance of preserving Rivers State’s stability, cautioning against actions that could lead to the forceful removal of democratically-elected officials.

Furthermore, Wabara addressed the recent exodus of PDP members in Abia State, attributing it to the repercussions of the previous PDP-led administration’s disregard for internal democracy. Despite the challenges, he encouraged PDP members to remain steadfast and support efforts to rejuvenate the party for future electoral success.
