‘The Five-Star Weekend’ Is Here! Plus Everything Else We’re Watching in July

new on streaming

By the time the weekend rolls around, staying in and watching a new show are just about the only plans that sound appealing to me. I used to get excited about getting dressed up and staying out late, but I won’t lie to you, those days are over. Instead, streaming what’s new is now my idea of a wild Saturday night. I’m so committed to it, I’m even marking release dates in my calendar months in advance.

With all of the streaming services now, it can be hard to keep up with what to watch and where to watch it. However, this month, the lineups are so good that you’ll want to ensure you have a subscription to every platform, or at least your friends’ passwords. These shows and movies are about to be the sole topic of conversation in The Everygirl’s #watercooler Slack channel, and I’ll be damned if I miss out on that.

Cancel your plans and get comfortable because it’s time to hit “Play.” Without further ado, here are some of the most anticipated shows and movies that are new on streaming this month.

Netflix

Enola Holmes 3

Stream on Netflix

Our favorite detective is back at it once again. Millie Bobby Brown and Henry Cavill return in this exciting mystery where Sherlock is unexpectedly kidnapped, and Enola is drawn into a tangled and treacherous new case in Malta that complicates her impending wedding.

Little House on the Prairie

Stream on Netflix

The book-to-movie adaptations continue this month! This modern adaptation of Laura Ingalls Wilder’s classic books explores the triumphs and struggles of the pioneers who shaped the American frontier. While retaining the family-centered storytelling, the series explores themes of resilience, identity, and community. It’s perfect for both longtime fans and new viewers discovering the story for the first time.

The Hawk

Stream on Netflix starting July 16

I’ll admit it—I’m a sucker for any Will Ferrell movie. This comedy follows an aging golfer chasing one last shot at glory after his career has long since faded. The series blends the sports comedy tropes that we love (any Happy Gilmore fans?) alongside some heartfelt moments to remember.

Ransom Canyon (Season 2)

Stream on Netflix starting July 23

One of our favorite cowboy romances is back for another season! Set in a small Texas town where steamy love triangles, decades-long family sagas, and contentious land disputes collide, the drama continues for longtime friends Quinn O’Grady (Minka Kelly) and Staten Kirkland (Josh Duhamel). Season 2 picks back up six months after Quinn left her hometown behind to chase her dreams in New York. When Quinn finally returns home, she jolts Staten into a moment of clarity after her long absence.

Hulu

Furious

Stream on Hulu starting July 27

This new crime thriller stars Emmy Rossum as rookie FBI agent Alice Black. Her first major case pits her against a calculating female serial killer who targets powerful men, creating a tense psychological cat-and-mouse game. It’s perfect for lovers of Killing Eve and Mindhunter.

Prime Video

Elle

Stream on Prime Video

I’ve been waiting for this highly anticipated new series, and it’s finally here! This prequel to Legally Blonde follows a teenage Elle Woods before Harvard Law, exploring the experiences that shaped her trademark confidence, optimism, and determination. With plenty of humor and early-2000s nostalgia, the coming-of-age series expands on the early days of our favorite future lawyer-in-pink.

Ride or Die

Stream on Prime Video on July 15

The cast alone was all I needed to know to add this action comedy to my watch list. Best friends Debbie (Octavia Spencer) and Judith (Hannah Waddingham) are forced on the run when Debbie discovers Judith isn’t a forensic accountant—but an international assassin. With a mysterious figure chasing them, and Debbie’s husband involved in something deeply corrupt, it’s a race against time and a road trip across Europe to untangle the truth and stay alive.

Peacock

The Five-Star Weekend

Stream on Peacock

The book girlies are being well served this month! Based on Elin Hilderbrand’s bestselling novel, this drama stars Jennifer Garner as a celebrated food influencer whose life is upended by a personal tragedy. She invites four friends from different chapters of her life to a healing weekend on Nantucket, where old wounds, hidden truths, and long-buried emotions come to the surface.

Apple TV+

Lucky

Stream on Apple TV+ starting July 15

Anya Taylor-Joy stars in this thriller based on Marissa Stapley’s bestselling novel. She plays a woman who escaped a life of crime years ago, only to be pulled back into her dangerous past when old secrets resurface. The series promises suspense, emotional drama, and, like most Anya Taylor-Joy projects, a truly unforgettable performance.
